About Rhea Plosker MC, MASc, RSW, RP

Rhea Plosker MASc, MC, RSW, RP with Buster Brown
I am a Registered Social Worker in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. At this time, I see clients through secure videoconferencing or by phone. When the pandemic is over, I will once again see clients in person in mid-town Toronto, easily accessible by transit.

In addition to my private practice, I have hospital and health care counselling experience working in palliative care and with stroke survivors and their families. My work designing a therapeutic group for a Toronto hospital, A Solution Focused Group for Caregivers of Stroke Survivors, was published in the academic Journal of Systemic Therapies in 2013.

I am very proud to be a senior facilitator with The Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto. I facilitate online Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction groups. These groups may be helpful for those living with stress, depression, anxiety, or chronic pain. I am also a certified yoga teacher.

I bring with me more than two decades of experience coaching individuals, teams, and projects as an engineer, technology executive and independent consultant. I held senior leadership roles in my corporate career and built a successful independent consulting and executive coaching practice. Today, I train, supervise and mentor new therapists and mindfulness facilitators.

Continuing education is very important to me. In addition to my Master of Counselling degree, I have obtained certificates in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for depression and anxiety, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness Facilitation. I have completed advanced training in Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have also completed training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills and in clinical supervision. I continue to invest in obtaining ongoing clinical supervision and mentoring.

I believe strongly in volunteering and giving back. I lead community seminars and workshops on topics including: returning to work after a mental health leave, setting and meeting health goals, project management training for social services organizations, and mental health coaching for health care professionals. I am an active volunteer with the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto. I was a long-time volunteer counsellor at Toronto's 519 community center where I run mindfulness-based groups for mental health, and was on the board of directors of St. Clair West Services for Seniors. In the past, I have also facilitated a social group in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Unit at CAMH, and was 10+ year volunteer with Big Sisters of Toronto.
